Creative Weekend

This weekend is dedicated to freedom and creativity of all art forms.

I happened to watch the 2nd episode of the "The Dewarist" a music documentary. It was a collaboration of 2 Pakistani singers Zeb and Haniya with Swanand Kirkere and Shantanu Moitra. I had seen promo's of this program but hadn't seen it . I am glad I got a chance to see it over the weekend. It was refreshing to see musicians collaborate and come out with an amazing song called "Kya Khayaal hain".

Right after that , I saw a documentary on TLC "Gaga by Gautlier". Lady Gaga has been in the Indian media lately, for her performance today after the F1 race in NOIDA. The tickets are @ 40,000 INR per person! Obviously, that restricts the India she gets to experience, but c'est la vie! The documentary was also a good watch giving insight into the type of performer she is and the music she makes. Well to me as a viewer, she spoke from her heart and she seems to know what she is doing.

I envy artists, I seriously believe creativity is a gift of God and I cringe every time I think of people who have talent but don't maximize on it because they get caught up in day to day life.I wish I could be like them, its soul satisfying to me, so watching the documentary was living that life vicariously.

Inspired with all of this, I had to tap into my creativity which comes out best in the kitchen. I headed there and made the best dish stir fry dish I have ever tasted! With no one to share since Mom is a vegetarian, I ended up eating it and praising myself !

Here's a message out to anyone who is creative, please don't let mundane things in life get to you , nurture the talent and I am sure it will take you places. A plea from a humble bystander :-).

Spice Route

Had the opportunity to dine at a fantastic restaurant yesterday called Spice Route in the Imperial. This year has involved traveling to many places in Asia but never before have I seen such a place. Tastefully done, its  a treat to the eye and the food is delicately flavored and the menu has options from the Malabar Coast in Kerala through Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia to Thailand and Vietnam. You can request for a tour of the spice route . Our restaurant host took us to each section and explained the relevance and the architectural trivia. It was interesting to note that the restaurant took 7 years to complete, and was built on feng-shui principles. It has some pillars that date back 3000 years. The "relationship"section had seating that could accommodate only 2 ( rightfully so ! ) , there is no place for a third chair ! The entrance of the restaurant is designed in such a way that only one person can walk at a time between the pillars, this is to signify your birth in which you come alone ( unless you are twins! ). The wealth section has 24 karat gold sheets on the walls and is the most requested seating area by guests.

I loved the fact that they made a statement using the Indian heritage and it definitely stood out for me as well as my visitors. A definite visit for anyone who is thinking of a good dine out option.

Technology Wars

I am often amused by the amount of money that is pumped in by tech giants to get to the users first. The latest in this has been Google+1 being launched and soon after Facebook has talked about launching "something awesome" the week after. The users obviously are enjoying this since they get the goodies usually free! Needless to say should any of these be accepted by the user then we have a team that walks away happy with fat bonuses.

These are interesting times we live in . It would be interesting to see what comes up next.

Speaking of tech companies, I loved this diagramatic representation of the org charts.Got this from bonkersworld.

This blog is not dead

Swamped with work and with so much happening its been tough to find time to write posts. HOWEVER, that will change effective today and I am going to update this blog with some posts by end of day.

I will also try and revamp the template, if I find something suitable.

Cheers!

Mobile Tunes

Landing in Delhi is an ordeal . From the time the aircraft lands to the time we reach the disembarkation point is a long ride. As usual usually people consider landing on ground as an indication that their phones need to be switched on and unfastening their . It doesn't matter what the airhostess says , it seems the most natural thing to do.So what if the airhostess mentions repeatedly that you are putting other lives at risk!

This week when I landed, I heard at least 3 ring tones simultaneously ( Gayatri Mantra, A film Song and a kid who keeps saying hello! Wonder why would you have the last one as your ring tone! ) . The airhostess of the Jet Lite flight didn't even bother coming and asking them to switch if off, since it seems to be a futile exercise anyway. The perpetrators mind you , are not uneducated first time travelers but the standard office goer who travels frequently!

I keep wishing that this happens with a person next to me, and THEN I get chance to speak my mind!

Creating beautiful memories

Soumya Bhattacharya of the Hindustan Times writes a column on a weekly basis in which he centers around his daughter. Its heartening to read it , and more importantly how he is able to capture his daughter's growing up years so well.  Sample this.

I am sure his daughter will cherish these articles more than anything else in the world. I know I would if I were her !

A good example of making use of his skill to create ever lasting memories
